The Sonoran Institute’s mission is to connect people and communities with the natural resources that nourish and sustain them. The organization works at the nexus of commerce, community, and conservation to help people in the North American West build the communities they want to live in while preserving the values which brought them here. The vision is a “West” where civil dialogue and collaboration are hallmarks of decision making, where people and wildlife live in harmony, and where clean water, air, and energy are assured.
Ryan VanDero, manager of human resources and accounting at the Sonoran Institute is busy managing employee benefits, payroll, general HR questions and payroll for approximately 50 employees spread out at three offices in Phoenix, Tucson and Mexicali.
He says, “We began working with Bagnall about five years ago when our benefits renewal process was underway. I had worked with Bryan Yates at a previous company and asked him to take a look at our employee benefits. Bagnall was able to get us the same coverage for less money. We were thrilled to be able to offer our employee the same generous benefits, while achieving a 27 percent decrease in our overall cost.”
From there, the partnership expanded to include some help with general HR consulting. Ryan worked with Lynda McKay at Bagnall to review and update their employee handbook which was over three years out of date. They have also worked together on some employee wellness initiatives such as offering on-site flu shot clinics to employees.
Ryan added, “I look forward to many years of collaboration with the Bagnall team. They are a great resource and partner and we really enjoy working together.”
